Bengals sign QB O'Sullivan as backup for Palmer (AP)

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan to back up injured quarterback Carson Palmer. The Bengals didn't release terms of the contract Friday. They are counting on Palmer's return from an elbow injury last season, but needed a backup after Ryan Fitzpatrick left for Buffalo as a free agent. Read more...

Bengals beat reeling Redskins 20-13 (AP)

Doesn't take a genius to figure out that the Washington Redskins are in a mess of trouble. They lost for the fifth time in six games Sunday, unable to keep up with one of the NFL's lowliest teams. Ryan Fitzpatrick ran for a touchdown and threw for another, leading the Cincinnati Bengals to a 20-13 victory that ended the Redskins' week of grousing. Read more...

Bengals take no comfort from playing Steelers (AP)

The NFL didn't do Bengals quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick any favors by acknowledging an officiating error cost the Pittsburgh Steelers' defense a touchdown on Sunday. Fitzpatrick, sacked seven times during a 38-10 loss to Pittsburgh last month, says the NFL's No. 1 defense is designed to so overwhelm a quarterback that he worries about every step he takes, every pass he throws, every read he makes. Bengals Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

After an 0-8 start, the Bengals have not lost a game in three weeks. They defeated Jacksonville on Nov. 2, had a bye Nov. 9 and tied the Eagles on Nov. 16. Now they go to Pittsburgh for a Thursday night game against the 7-3 Steelers. Cincinnati is 1-8-1. The Bengals played a full 75 minutes against the Eagles and have to turn around and play in four days. "It's a tough game to swallow, and in a normal week, you have some time to heal physically," Bengals quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said after the tie. "But this is a short week, and it will be a physical game as it always is against the Steelers. But we'll be ready." The Bengals are potentially short-handed. Read more...
